EU Smart Power Monitor (No Relay Version)
ESPHome EU Energy Monitoring Plug – Relay-Free, Always-On Design
Product Description
Monitor your appliance power consumption without adding a remote power-off function.
This ESPHome-compatible EU plug is built with an ESP8285 Wi-Fi chip and an HLW8032 energy-metering chip. It is designed without a relay, so it does not remotely switch connected equipment on or off.
The relay-free design keeps the power path continuously connected during normal operation. It is ideal for equipment that should remain powered, such as refrigerators, NAS devices, routers, modems, network switches, home servers, and security equipment.
Use it with ESPHome and Home Assistant to view real-time power data, track energy consumption, and detect appliance activity.

Why Choose a Relay-Free Energy Monitor?
A standard smart plug normally uses a relay to turn an appliance on or off. This product does not include that switching function.
Benefits of the no-relay design:
No accidental OFF command from an app or automation
No relay clicking or relay contact wear
No relay-related disconnection of critical equipment
Continuous monitoring for devices that need to stay online
Better suited to refrigerators, NAS systems, routers, and servers
This product cannot prevent external power interruptions caused by blackouts, circuit-breaker trips, damaged wiring, or utility failures.
Recommended Applications
This plug is especially suitable for monitoring:
Refrigerators and freezers
NAS and storage devices
Home servers
Routers and modems
Network switches
Wi-Fi access points
CCTV and alarm systems
Smart-home hubs
Computers and office equipment
Other appliances that should not be remotely switched off
Energy Monitoring Functions
The HLW8032 energy-metering chip can provide useful electrical data through ESPHome.
Depending on the firmware configuration, the device can report:
AC voltage
Load current
Instantaneous power
Total energy consumption
Appliance activity based on power draw
For best accuracy, calibrate the monitoring values using a suitable reference meter and known load.
ESPHome and Home Assistant Integration
Configure the plug with ESPHome, then add it to Home Assistant for:
Real-time energy dashboards
Historical consumption records
Power usage alerts
Appliance running-status detection
Custom sensors
Local Wi-Fi monitoring
Automations based on energy data
Please note: this product supports monitoring only. It cannot remotely switch an appliance on or off.
