Product Description
This ESPHome-compatible Australian smart plug is designed for power monitoring without relay control.
Unlike a traditional smart plug, this model does not include a relay or automatic switching circuit. The connected appliance remains continuously powered, making it especially suitable for refrigerators, NAS systems, routers, modems, network switches, servers, and other equipment that should not be accidentally switched off.
The built-in ESP8285 Wi-Fi chip provides flexible wireless connectivity for ESPHome projects. The HLW8032 metering chip enables electrical measurements such as voltage, current, instantaneous power, and accumulated energy through your ESPHome or Home Assistant system.
This is a monitoring-only product. It is not intended to remotely turn appliances on or off.
Main Advantages
Relay-Free Continuous Power
The internal power path remains continuously connected because there is no relay to open or close. This helps avoid accidental shutdowns caused by relay switching, automation errors, or relay failure.
Please note: this product cannot prevent power interruptions caused by utility outages, circuit breakers, wiring faults, or other external electrical problems.
Accurate Energy Monitoring
The HLW8032 metering chip can provide useful electrical data for smart-home dashboards and automations, including:
Voltage
Current
Instantaneous power
Cumulative energy consumption
Appliance operating status based on measured load
Actual measurement accuracy may vary depending on the load, installation conditions, calibration, and firmware configuration.
ESPHome Compatible
Configure and manage the plug through ESPHome and connect it to Home Assistant for:
Real-time energy dashboards
Historical consumption tracking
Custom sensors
Local Wi-Fi monitoring
Notifications based on power usage
Appliance status detection
Recommended Applications
Refrigerators and freezers
NAS and home servers
Routers and modems
Network switches
Wi-Fi access points
CCTV and security equipment
Smart-home hubs
Computers and office equipment
Power-consumption monitoring for household appliances
